Shaking the World to Find a Cure
Advocates are people, children and adults, who have the capability to effect a cure for movement disorders. Advocates’ actions are essential to spread awareness of movement disorders by advocating for a cure through research. Tremor Action Network Advocate Agenda includes building a network of advocates to inform the public, government agencies and the health care industry on the universal needs of the movement disorders population. TAN pledges to promote advocacy through novel and creative activities.
Essential Health Benefits (EHB)
One hundred-four organizations, including Tremor Action Network, have signed on to and circulated a letter to Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Kathleen Sebelius, advocating for Americans that are challenged by chronic diseases such as essential tremor (ET). Essential tremor has few treatment options, and the proposed EHB requirement of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act potentially limits the drug options available. The proposed prescription drug formulary is inadequate for 133 million Americans that include millions of essential tremor patients living with a chronic neurological movement disorder.
